I thought it might be interesting to start a basketball league for Giess, so I present to you the Giess Basketball Association (GBA).

The season will start on November 12, and there will be an autodraft (seemed to be the most practical choice) once all the teams have signed up. Anyone from any micronation on Giess can join, but I ask that you include a city or micronation name (from the micronation that you come from) with the team name.

P.S.: Just so I know who's who, could you also post a reply in this thread with your team name and your team's location on Giess. Thanks.

It's your standard yahoo fantasy sports league.

So are you going to host a league on that for giess? i'm not a big fan of Basketball but i'd prefer to do fantasy basketball than football

Yep...if there's enough takers. Otherwise...can't have a league without teams.

teams are made on FIFA07 (currently) and the matches are then played (with both teams as computer players) and then sometimes the games are recorded and then uploaded.
ie. The most recent World Cup's final: http://www.vsocial.com/video/?d=105673

you give your team squad to the organisers, who then sort everything out

That sounds good, but there is always a potential for cheating and i want this to be internet based, So i'll go with your league Troy dispite my minimal knowledge of basketball (which just seems like glorified netball to me). Is the yahoo leagues free?

That sounds good, but there is always a potential for cheating
which is why we always have the organisers as trusted MNalists Tongue

i mentioned this elsewhere, but it's a "the more you put in, the more you get out idea" so the nations who've put their all into setting up decent leagues, get better results at international level than those without any league at all...

and even if you lose, at least you get to see your team play, unlike with fantasy games and RNG's

hmm im being swayed by this arguement, mainly because of the element of being able to watch your team play and the fact i have minimal basketball knowledge Tongue

Tongue
it wasn't really an argument, just me pointing out that I personally think being able to watch your team is better than just being told the score...

then again, it might not work with basketball games, it depends if the program's been made to edit kits, etc...

Yes, as you said that they are currently being made on FIFA 07 but you have to pay for Creation Master 08 so I'm guessing that wont be used.

I may join the Basketball league, is it for all micronations?
