“The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.â€
This appeared after I tried to upload my avatar picture. What can I do to fix this?

It's a problem on our end that is stubbornly reoccurring despite best efforts to correct it. I'd suggest you host your avatar with ImageShack or ImageVenue.
