Do any of you know where I can find the original Petro-Canada Act? Like, the one Pierre Trudeau got passed way back in the 70's?

Any help in finding the text of this Act would be VERY appreciated.

Out-of-force Acts are not maintained in the active Register and are thus not available online via the Department of Justice or the various Canadian legal libraries.

As such, if you want to find the Petro-Canada Limited Act of 1975 (or the amended version of 1985), you're in for a jaunt across the border to the Library of Parliament where archives are kept.

Mind you, there is the remote chance you might find it on some obscure website via Google; but I don't see anything promising on the few four or five pages of a search I just did.

In the meantime, here is the Petro-Canada Public Participation Act of 1991 which dissolved Petro-Canada Limited as a Crown Corporation. Absolutely not what you want, but whatever. Tongue

Thanks, Liam. I'm just brainstorming ideas for the creation of a possible Crown Corporation in Alexandria to handle the extraction and refining of oil in the Santander area of Micras. I wanted to see how the Canadians did it back when Trudeau was around.

Edgard, I think you're going to have to take a road trip to Ottawa for this one. If I still lived there, I would do it for you and send you a scanned copy, but I moved. Still, the trip will be fun, Ottawa is pleasant enough and you'll get to see the Fortress of Doom which is the American Embassy...

It's what's done inside there that makes it the Fortress of Doom. Tongue

I didn't think that Canada was on the rendition list.

Thanks very much, Hessam. I guess I'll have to take the hike to Ottawa sometime, I'm not too far away! Smiley
